WORDS

(Lyrics from the album “The Ghost of the Muse”)
The Point of Collapse

[Scream from within]

Arriving at this place
I've spent so many hours all alone
It seems so cold in here (it's warm inside)
Waiting for the weight to lift from my shoulders

She reminds me how to smile
A sudden impact – a violent hit and run

It's just the point of collapse
I've reached the point of collapse
It's just the point of collapse
I can't push away

Screaming from within
The world turns a deaf ear - no one cares
Reveal the soul beneath (it’s warm inside)
Press the lips to flesh - no one sees

And then she tells me how to smile
A sudden impact – a violent hit and run

Silently Screaming

Are you still afraid?
Staying motionless
When nothing breathes, don’t pull away
Silently screaming

How long has this gone on?
A cancer to the soul
Trembling like a butterfly
Silently screaming

Eyes strain in the light
Nothing but the noise
Yet I can hear the years break apart
Silently screaming

Is it better to scream
And destroy this silence
Or to turn up the volume?
How long has it lasted?
Maybe a minute, maybe an hour
But brings me closer to you

Silently Screaming (reprise)

This is where it starts
The ghost shines from the muse
It was in me all along
Silently screaming

Everything is Not a Happy Ending

The longest day, light shines upon no longer
Bite my tongue, this only makes me stronger
One by one the nights close in
The air between feels dense
A stranger loneliness that’s
Masked by this pretense
She pulls away, remember me tomorrow
Everything is not a happy ending

A single word, shatters the illusion
The pale moon, arrives with some confusion
Like the lotus flower
Nothing truly dies
Swept in this embrace
I can’t apologize
It’s killing me, is this some fatal poison?
Everything is not a happy ending

A symphony, stops the tears from falling
Like poetry, until suddenly she’s calling
The haunt of memories
And all that they reveal
Run at half the speed
The heart no longer feels
This silent room, will look different in the morning
Everything is not a happy ending

Without You (Close Your Eyes)

Night after night, she says
Wondering why I’m here
There’s a hole in the world that lulls me to sleep
Making the same mistakes
Through laughter and the tears
And it won’t mean a thing…without you

I’m crawling inside, she says
Not knowing where to run
Maybe I’d be there now and not here
I’m not alone for once
And I never really was
But it won’t mean a thing…without you

Close your eyes
When the world goes quiet
You reach deep inside
Don’t say goodbye
I won’t wave the white flag
But I’m not superman
I can chase the shadows
Before you hear the sounds again
Living with this heartbreak
Do you think of me?
Close your eyes

Night after night, she says
Wondering why I’m here
There’s a hole in the world that lulls me to sleep
And it won’t mean a thing…without you

Tears Do Not Burn

Silence drowning out the noise
This brooding place I call my soul
No better place for one to drift
Hold me close and shield the blow
A moment left to catch my breath
Swallow hard, why don’t you stay
When sunlight’s fading glow departs
I start chasing the ghosts away
(Oh love, and your silent virtue)

Where dreamers dream
Tears do not burn
And all the poets sing
Tears do not burn

The hours pass and sleep eludes
My head is screaming, is this hell?
All I have are memories
Why don’t they see, why don’t they tell?
Break the silence, one mistake
Awake at last, the siren’s name
We’re on our own, our bridge to cross
I start chasing the ghosts away
(Oh love, and your silent virtue)

It hits you right between the eyes
Nothing to do, nothing to say
That space between the notes you play

Plane Crash Smiles

I’m moving in reverse, the quickest glance behind
The damage done, the door that closed
Say your name once more, and things I could have said
Cut my throat and spill my soul

But I am god this moment, I’ll say now
No other path, no other way
Like chasing clouds while in slow motion
With plane crash smiles, Ascension Day
We’ve got to break away

A silent storm, walk down the stairs, your hand in mine
Where the wall meets floor, and in the firing line
For several years ignored, this is your wake up call
Haunted by those final words, I take the fall

Lay in bed awake, with all my past mistakes
Words a vampire, disguised to answer for
I can’t take back all the things I never did
Drown me in regret no more

But I am god this moment, I’ll say now
No other path, no other way
Like chasing clouds while in slow motion
With plan crash smiles, Ascension Day
We’ve got to break away
